Our Blogs

We write our blogs on the same or next day and then post them on the Facebook groups - It's Orlando Time or It's Orlando Time and Beyond. So if the blog ends saying "night all" it's because it's probably 1am and I'm wide awake trying to remember everything we did that day... If you want to follow us live, join both groups or wait until we post the blogs here.

Abu Dhabi

A city we were never expecting to love so much

When we flew home from New Zealand with Emirates in 2018 we had a 10hr stopover in Dubai but never left the hotel - because we wanted to try and get some sleep but also because we were never that interested in seeing the city.

But when we won a €500 Qatar Airways voucher during a work's raffle Stefan decided he wanted to use it to fly to Abu Dhabi. We asked our 4yr old if he wanted to visit the city but his reply shocked us - he wanted to stay at home and Gwagwa (my mum) and Oma (Stefan's mum) were to look after him and his little brother. Luckily my mum agreed and our first childless adventure began...

Florida

4 weeks in the Sunshine State

After my Uncle died in 2022 we inherited £2500 and quickly decided to use the majority of it to take the boys to Disney World. We initially booked 2 weeks in Orlando and 1 week in Daytona Beach but after realising we could rebook our flights and hire car for free we decided to add on an extra 5 days in Florida City.

Day Trips

Join us as we discover what there is to do in our region.

We're usually in Berlin twice a month to visit my mother in law and our 4yr old's favourite place is Bad Saarow because they have a railway crossing there which has to be switched on manually. We really need to visit more places!

The trick to getting through life... is having your next holiday booked!

I can't come home from a holiday without thinking about the next place we can visit (or return to). At the start of 2023 we had 4 holidays booked so of course I wasn't happy that we had only booked a week to visit my Gran in 2024, but after 5 trips in 2023 (yes, we booked another one!) and Stefan's 6 months of paternity leave we were struggling financially. But we finally booked flights to South Carolina to visit our friends in September so I'm happy once again!
